ATSI Students

Aboriginal Education

The Aboriginal Secondary Education Transition Officer and the Student counsellor work as a team to support Aboriginal students with their academic learning, social and emotional wellbeing and attendance.  We aim to foster positive relationships with Aboriginal students and their families to ensure that students feel safe and positive whilst at school. These include:

  • Linking students to services
  • Case Management
  • Supporting transition from primary school and into high school
  • Supporting students into pathways into training, employment and higher education.

Programs:

  • South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy / Port Adelaide Football Club Aboriginal AFL Academy (AAA)
  • South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy (SAASTA). The Aboriginal Power Cup and The SAASTA Shield carnival.
  • Tutoring support for the year 11 and 12 students.
  • Adelaide Football Club The McLeod Centre of Excellence Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (IYLP) and the Future Leaders Program.
  • The Workabout Centre programs- The Driver’s Education (learners permit)

Excursions:

  • The SACE Aboriginal Students Pathways Conference in term 2
  • The University of Adelaide, Marni Wingku in Term 3
  • Career Walk in Term 4
  • ATSI “ Making Tracks” Career expo  in Term 4
