Policies and Procedures

Our school’s policies and procedure aim to provide a comprehensive overview of Modbury High School’s expectations of students, parents and the wider school community. They reflect our school’s values and commitment to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

All policies are developed in partnership with Governing Council and reviewed every three years. They are closely aligned with the Education department’s policies.

All students are required to do homework on each weeknight and the following is provided as a guide for students and parents in the Middle School i.e Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Each subject should set homework twice per week. This means 3 subjects are set on four nights and 2 subjects on the fifth night.

  • Year 7 students should spend about 40 minutes per night
  • Year 8 students should spend about 60 minutes per night
  • Year 9 students should spend about 75 minutes per night
  • Year 10 students should spend about 90 minutes per night
  • Year 11 students should spend about 120 minutes per night
  • Year 12 students should spend about 180 minutes per night

A new homework timetable relevant to the year level is distributed to students each semester.

Success or failure in subsequent years may well depend on sensible study habits established during the first and very vital secondary year.

No homework is set for year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students during holidays.

We believe in a culture of achievement in a respectful and rigorous learning environment
