Homestay Information

Feedback from Modbury High School host families indicates that hosting an international student is a rewarding and enriching experience.

Host families learn about other cultures and traditions, participate in activities and socialise with other host families and develop lasting friendships with their student and family. If you are considering becoming a host, you can learn more about the experience by watching this video:

Steps to become a homestay

Read the Code of Conduct and Quality Service Expectations.

Step 1 Expression of interest:

Step 2 Application for Homestay

Our team will send an Homestay Application form to the email you have provided.

Please ensure that you answer every question in the application form. You can submit your application by emailing it back to the school or or you may choose to print the Homestay Application Form below and return it to the Front Office at Modbury High School.

Step 2 Working with childrens check and RRHAN check

Provide evidence of your current Working with Children Check from the Department of Human Services, or Our Team can initiate your Working With Children Check for you to then complete the online application (there will be no cost to you for this). Working with Children Checks are valid for 5 years. All persons over the age of 18 residing in your home (except international students studying in a South Australian government school) are required to have a Working with Children Check. 

Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN Training) -Education and Care Training Homestays are required to complete RRHAN-EC training and provide evidence of completion to our team.

Step 3 Submit your forms:

Submit your Homestay Application form online. Submit evidence of your Working with Children Check for each person over the age of 18 residing in your home and your RAN Training directly to our team.

Step 4 Home visit and interview:

The final step to become a homestay is a visit and interview in your home. Once your application has been assessed and satisfactory criminal history screening/s has been received, our school Study Tour Coordinator will contact you to arrange a home visit and interview. We will explain your obligations in more detail and answer any questions that you may have.

You are now ready to host a student!

If successful, you will be accredited as one of our valued homestays and we look forward to allocating a Study Tour student to stay with your family!
